The final weeks of Summer and return of Autumn. Daylight begins to shorten with darker evenings and later sunrises when you compare week one to week four.
A busy time of harvesting and storing produce for the winter ahead. The UK met office brought in a new system a few years ago and now class September 1 as the start of Autumn, but for most gardeners it remains at autumn equinox (around September 22). Plan ahead, especially to next Spring when thinking about flowers. Daffodils are planted throughout the month whereas Tulips are mostly planted in October; although if time is short you can plant them now.
