How to Grow Broad Beans

If you’d like to get an early crop of Broad Beans, try the variety Aquadulce Claudia which is sown in the Autumn and harvested late Spring/Summer.

Sow October, November, December, January
Harvest May, June, July, August

This very hardy variety produces very long, glossy pods and is unsurpassed for Autumn sowing.

October to January in clean module trays or direct into the ground, 2in (5cm) deep, 4in (10cm) apart in double rows 10in (25cm) apart. Leave 24in (60cm) between each double row. Do not sow when soil is waterlogged or frozen.

Pinch out growing tips when in full flower to deter blackfly. Pick when young for best flavour.
