How to Freeze Rhubarb

Unless I can use the rhubarb straight from the garden, I tend to freeze it for later. It’s a simple and easy process and there are many ways to do this but here is my way

  1. Sean, does rhubarb require a rest period? many perennials such as horse radish do not. I would like to grow it in my indoor aquaponics system as I have with horse radish picking off only stalks, leaves, or tubers as needed year round.

    • I wouldn’t pick more than two stalks in the first two years to give it time to establish itself. I would get new crowns every 6 years.

  2. Thank you, i will give them a try in aquaponics. Asparagus did great, waited two yrs for 1 yr old crowns in aquaponics. Actually rhubarb is an attractive foliage plant anyway will look good in
