Highgrove: A Garden Celebrated

Written by Bunny Guinness, Highgrove: A Garden Celebrated is a commemoration of the gardens of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales.

H.R.H. The Prince of Wales has been gardening at Highgrove for 35 years. This book spans a typical year and each chapter concentrate on every month and introduced by The Prince; accompanied by beautiful photography by Marianne Majerus, Andrew Butler and Andrew Lawson.

“I learnt quite quickly that placing anything in a garden can easily go wrong if you rush at it, so I have tried never to force a plan or design, but to wait for an ‘intuitive’ idea to form itself when the moment is right.”

“In many ways, the garden at Highgrove represents one very small attempt to heal the appallingly short-signed damage done to the soil, the landscape and to our own souls. My enduring hope is that those who visit the garden may find something to inspire, excite, fascinate or soothe them.”
– H.R.H. The Prince of Wales

The garden is divided into thirty-four sections from the Azalea Walk, Sundial Garden, Carpet Garden, Wild Flower Meadow, Stumpery, Orchard Room, Lime Avenue, Arboretum and Kitchen Garden. The estate is open to the public on selected dates between April and October. A two-hour tour of the gardens with a expert guide is also available. This book is a stunning presentation of a beautiful garden through the seasons and perfect for reading during these cold winter months. I found it very easy to become lost within its pages, so much so that I’m planning a visit next summer.

Published by Orion Books, pages 240, hardback. Profits from the sale of this book are donated to The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation.
